GoPro Fusion – Product Launch

GoPro's Fusion camera is the future of 360 video and we wanted to get people in China talking. The best way to do this? By getting the media to experience the camera themselves and helping them to capture some thrilling VR footage at an iconic location - the Forbidden City.
We partnered with Sina and held two days of media events so that journalists could experience Fusion first-hand. More than 100 VR industry professionals and enthusiasts, influencers, media and advocates took part in the first event at Sina’s HQ in Beijing. The GoPro team gave demos before taking everyone outside to experience Fusion for themselves.
The next day we took six journalists and five GoPro advocates to try out the Fusion camera in the Forbidden City. The journalists shot some great footage which they then used in their coverage.


  • 1.15m tuned in for the livestream on Sina VR’s Weibo channel
  • The #GoProFusion hashtag on Sina Weibo was seen 25.5 million times and led to 751 discussions
  • 18 media attended the Sina VR event, leading to 30 articles online and in print
